Getting started

How do I become a Droppa driver?
Download the Droppa app, choose “I want to drive” and complete the five short steps: about you, your licence, your vehicle, photos & documents, then review and submit. Our team reviews every application. You can also register your interest on this site and we’ll call you to help.
What documents do I need?
Your national ID, a valid driver’s licence (with expiry date), a selfie, your number plate and four photos of your vehicle (front, rear, left, right). A defensive driving certificate is optional. Our team also verifies a ZRP police clearance certificate before you start.
How long does approval take?
It depends on how many applications are waiting and whether your photos are clear. If something needs fixing we tell you in the app and you can resubmit without starting again.
Which cities can I work in?
Today Droppa is live in Zimbabwe (Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Gweru) and Zambia (Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola) — the Cities page loads the current list live from the platform. We’ll add new cities and countries as we expand across Africa; if you’re somewhere else, register your interest and choose “Other” — it helps us decide where to go next.

Money

How much can I earn?
It depends on your city, the hours you’re online, demand and the fares you accept — so we don’t promise a number. The estimator on the Drive page uses the app’s live fare settings to give a rough estimate. Treat it as an estimate, not a guarantee.
Does Droppa take a commission?
No. Droppa is zero-commission: you keep 100% of every ride fare, parcel delivery fee and rider cancellation fee. Drivers pay one flat subscription after a free trial — that subscription is how Droppa earns. Current plans are shown on the Drive page and in the app before you pay.
How does the subscription work?
When your application is approved your free trial starts. After that you pay one flat price for each plan period (for example weekly or monthly) with EcoCash from the app — you get a PIN prompt on your phone. It renews each period; if it lapses you can’t take new trips until you renew. The price never depends on how much you earn.
Who sets the fare?
Riders see an upfront fare based on distance. Riders can offer their price and drivers can accept or send one counter-offer, so you only take trips that make sense for you.
How do riders pay?
In cash, or with the rails Zimbabweans already use — EcoCash, OMARI and PayNow (card and USSD) — as each method goes live in the app. Whatever the rider chooses, the full fare is yours: Droppa takes no commission.

Safety & support

What safety features are there?
Every driver is reviewed before approval, trips are tracked live, riders and drivers can chat in the app, and there’s an SOS button for emergencies. The app reminds you before your licence expires and pauses new trips if your licence, insurance or permit has lapsed.
Is there a driver community?
Yes — the in-app driver forum groups drivers by city so you can share tips, and put forward and vote on proposals.
What happens to the details I send on this site?
We use your name, phone number, city and answers only to contact you about the opportunity you chose. Submitting the form doesn’t create an account or commit you to anything.
Can riders share their trip?
Yes — one tap shares a read-only live link, so family can watch the trip move across the map in real time until it ends.
What happens when someone presses SOS?
The SOS button dials the local emergency line and sends the live location to Droppa safety operations. Safety incidents route straight to a human — by email, in-app chat or phone — never a bot.
How fast does support reply?
Email support@idroppa.com and we aim to respond within 4 business hours. You can also reach us on Instagram (@droppa.zw) and TikTok (@droppa.zw).
